Monaco Yacht Show: Billionaire Jet Setters Choose Extreme Pollution
Monaco hosts the global convention of megapolluting superyachts. Many of the world's richest people arrive by private jet and helicopter.
We tracked 1,386 private jet flights into and out of the region during the yacht show, polluting 12,246 tons of CO₂e. That's the same pollution as 280,000 average French citizens during the same time period.If European visitors had traveled by train instead, their trips would have polluted 95.7% less.

Red Card for Private Jets: World Cup Fans Subsidize High Flyer Lifestyle
We built an open-source tool to track private jets and found 92,000 flights to and from World Cup host cities. Then, we calculated the excess carbon pollution they caused.

About PJET
We built PJET, the Private Jet Emissions Tracker, using publicly-broadcast flight data to track origin, destination, and airplane type of almost all flights globally; and an open-source emissions-calculation model to calculate baselines and track and aggregate real-time carbon pollution from private jets.
Crucially, this dataset has no exclusions, aggregates by date and time windows going back to 2021, and is free to use. It's open-source and we're looking for users and developers!Want access? Please get in touch and we can share our hosted instance of PJET with you.
